the Merced area has easy access to many fine institutions of higher learning. Within a one-hour radius, close to 100,000 students attend colleges and universities, including: University of California, Merced, California State University, Stanislaus, California State University, Fresno and the University of the Pacific. Schools of Engineering, Business, and Computer Science are readily at hand.
University of California, Merced
The University of California, Merced is the nation's first academic research institution of the 21st Century. The LEED Certified campus attracts talent, diversity and business to the community. UC Merced's Engineering, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanity & Arts graduates are provided with invaluable hands on learning opportunities and experience. While many of the graduates are recruited by corporations outside of Merced, some have chosen to stay and invest in the community by opening small businesses.
Since its opening in 2005, students and faculty have patented many of the innovative products that have been created . Plans are underway for the addition fo a School of Management as well as a School of Medicine.
Merced College
Merced College is a staple in the community. Whether it’s preparing students to transfer to a four year college or university or training Merced County's workforce, Merced College offers many highly successful programs. Since opening its doors January 2008, Merced College’s Business Resource Center (BRC) has become the focal point for area businesses and employers who are looking for low cost, customized job training opportunities.
